The rectangular shawl starts with a square. Next, one side of the shawl is worked by continuing along two sides of the square. The other side is then worked by continuing along the other two sides of the square. The two sides are identical.
The width is completely adjustable by working as many or as few repeats as desired.
Level: Intermediate The pattern has three special decrease stitches and features an easy repeat. There is a detailed picture tutorial, making it accessible to a beginner ready for a challenge.
Size: The shawl is approximately 17” /43 cm deep before blocking. With 5 accent colors (on each side), the shawl is approximately 83” /211 cm wide before blocking. Each accent color adds 6.4” /16 cm to the width on each side (12.8” /32.5 cm to the total width) before blocking. Information is included to change the width of the pattern.

I made the pictured shawl with Knit Pick's Lindy Chain and an D (3.25 mm) crochet hook. Approximate yardage: 900 yards/250 g main color and 95 yards/26 g of each of 5 contrast colors.
