The Frore Hat features mostly stockinette broken up by a few rows of a special stitch, which is created over two rows. I recommend using an accent color for the special stitch rows, but the hat can also be worked in 1 color, or many colors. The hat works up quickly and makes a cozy accessory for anyone, adults, children, or babies.

Frore: frosty or frozen

The Flakelet Hat uses the same special stitch throughout the hat.

The pattern has been test knit and tech edited.

Sizes:

  • 0-3 months (3-6 months, 6-12 months, Toddler, Child, Adult S, Adult M, Adult L)
  • Hat circumference: 14.5 (15.25, 16, 17.25, 18, 19, 20.25, 22)" / 37 (38.5, 40.5, 43, 46, 48, 51.5, 55.5) cm
  • Head circumference: 16 (17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24)" / 40.5 (43, 45.5, 48.5, 51, 53.5, 56, 61) cm

Yardage

  • Main Color: 25 (28, 32, 32, 38, 41, 45, 47) yards
  • Contrast Color: 16 (17, 18, 21, 35, 37, 38, 45) yards
  • Total (and amount for single color hat): 41 (45, 50, 53, 73, 78, 83, 92) yards

Level: Easy The pattern uses a special stitch created over 2 rows using common stitches. Only one color is used each round and the hat can be made with a single color.

Materials:

  • Super bulky weight yarn
  • Size US 11/8.0 mm 16” circular needle (Note: You will need a shorter circular needle or double pointed needles for the smaller sizes.)
  • Size US 13/9.0 mm 16” circular needle
  • Size US 13/9.0 mm double pointed needles
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch marker(s), including a unique marker for the beginning of the round
